The Comprehensive Project is designed to assess the students’ understanding of the “big picture” of US history and how the US changed over time. Students will consider how Americans continuously challenged and redefined the meanings of “freedom” and “equality” throughout US history and develop a project that analyzes the way one of these two concepts changed through pre-Columbian exploration and the Colonial era through the Civil War. Students will share their analysis in a project with a clear thesis/argument supported by evidence from course materials. This assignment is worth 100 points.
