Write a sentence that is critical of the 3 articles that you are using for your literature review. This should be done as a cumulative statement factoring in all three articles. Your second sentence should describe the potential future for studying the area you have selected to write about. For your third sentence, create a testable hypothesis, which should depict an expected relationship between 2 variables. This hypothesis should be derived from the future directions.
Points are awarded like this: 2 points possible for having a critical review that is a reflection of meaningful limitations across all articles in your review, 1 point for having a future direction for studying your topic, and 2 points for deriving a testable hypothesis that logically comes from your future directions.
For example:
Although several studies address the critical issues of perceptions of support and cyber-bullying experiences, very few articles include enough diversity in the sampling of the online population. In the future, more concerted efforts should be given to having LGBTQ+ identifying people in studies involving support and cyber-bullying. Should such a study be conducted, it is hypothesized that queer-identifying people with high support levels would be less likely to feel targeted by online bullies.
Example 2:
While the studies described do an excellent job of demonstrating the relationships between the Big 5 personality qualities and the successful leadership they entail, none of the articles discuss the potential link between honesty and leadership styles. Given that the personality quality of honesty as part of the HEXACO model is growing in acceptance among the scientific community, it stands to reason that this quality should be further explored in the future. If honesty is a likable quality, then it is hypothesized that an honest leader will increase followers’ likelihood of committing to their ideals.
