The twenty-seven books of the New Testament were completed by the year AD 100, but the
collection called the “New Testament” did not exist then. At first, Christians did not consider a
central Christian collection important since they already shared different writings from the
Apostles, with some leaders in this time even being trained by Apostles. But, during the second
century, heresies, heretics, and heretical writings caused the early church leaders to focus on
collecting the sacred writings of Christianity into one collection. That process lasted for another
250 years or so until the late 300s when the twenty-seven books were regarded as sacred and
collected in the New Testament.
Your task in this assignment is to summarize that process of New Testament Canonization.
